Capitolio de Puerto Rico, also known as El Capitolio, is the seat of the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico, housing its bicameral legislature consisting of the Senate and House of Representatives. Designed by Puerto Rican architect Rafael Carmoega in a neoclassical Beaux-Arts style and constructed of white marble between 1921 and 1929, the building was inaugurated on February 11, 1929. Its interior features a distinctive dome adorned with historical mosaics, along with murals and an original copy of the Commonwealth Constitution displayed in the rotunda, symbolizing Puerto Rican self-governance.
