📷 Dafo Temple

Dafo Temple, also known as the Great Buddha Temple, is a historic Buddhist complex founded in 1098 during the Western Xia Dynasty and renowned for housing China’s largest indoor reclining clay Buddha statue, measuring about 34.5 to 35 meters in length. The serene gold-plated figure depicting the Buddha in Nirvana lies within a large wooden hall from the same era, making the temple an important Silk Road cultural landmark that also preserves rare scriptures and architectural features from subsequent dynasties.
