Parthasarathy Temple in Chennai is an ancient 6th–8th century Hindu Vaishnavite temple built by the Pallavas and later expanded by the Cholas and Vijayanagara rulers, dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Krishna as Parthasarathy, the charioteer of Arjuna from the Mahabharata. One of the 108 Divya Desams glorified by the Alvars, it exemplifies classic Dravidian architecture with towering gopurams, intricate stone carvings, and multiple shrines for different forms of Vishnu, serving as one of Chennai’s oldest and most revered spiritual landmarks.
