The Rock Mosques and Associated Sacred Sites of Mangystau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kazakhstan, encompass a remarkable series of underground and rock-hewn mosques carved into limestone cliffs, dating from the medieval period and linked to Sufi traditions.
