The Royal Capetian Fortresses of Languedoc, comprises a remarkable network of medieval fortifications built during the 13th and 14th centuries to defend the strategic territory of the French crown in southern France. These well-preserved strongholds, including impressive castles and defensive structures, exemplify advanced military architecture of the period and bear witness to the political and military organization of the Kingdom of France during the Middle Ages.
