Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is one of the largest freshwater swamps in North America, a vast pristine wetland ecosystem spanning parts of Georgia and Florida renowned for its biodiversity and unique blackwater environment. Home to a rich array of wildlife including American alligators, black bears, and numerous bird species, the refuge preserves ancient cypress forests, floating peat islands, and pristine waterways that support exceptional ecological diversity and offer visitors opportunities for wildlife observation and exploration.
