bagrati cathedral

Bagrati Cathedral, a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture, is an 11th-century cross-domed church built in 1003 by King Bagrat III to symbolize the unification of Georgia. Constructed on a hill overlooking Kutaisi, it features elegant proportions, intricate stone carvings, and a vast interior that once hosted royal coronations, including that of King David IV the Builder. Though damaged by Ottoman forces in 1692 and later restored, it stands as a powerful emblem of Georgian cultural and religious heritage.
