hongshan
Hongshan, or Red Mountain, is a notable landmark in Ürümqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in China. This inner-city mountain is celebrated for its distinctive red rocks, which are composed of dark purple sand gravel from the Permian period. Historically significant, Hongshan features a temple at its peak, believed to have been built during the Tang dynasty, and a nine-storey pagoda known as Zhen Long Ta, dating back to the Yuan dynasty. The mountain's transformation from a barren hill to a tree-covered park symbolizes the cultural and environmental development of the region.
