Estava-se no Outono e, os Indios da reserva americana perguntaram ao novo Chefe se o Inverno iria ser muito rigoroso ou se, pelo contrário, poderia ser mais suave. Tratando-se de um Chefe Indio mas da era moderna, ele não conseguia interpretar os sinais que lhe permitissem prever o tempo, no entanto, para não correr muitos riscos, foi dizendo que sim senhor, deveriam estar preparados e cortar a lenha suficiente para aguentar um Inverno frio.

Mas como também era um lider prático e preocupado, alguns dias depois teve uma ideia. Dirigiu-se à cabine telefónica pública, ligou para o Serviço Meteorológico Nacional e perguntou: 'O próximo Inverno vai ser frio?' 'Parece que na realidade este Inverno vai bastante frio' respondeu o meteorologista de serviço.

O Chefe voltou para o seu povo e mandou que cortassem mais lenha. Uma semana mais tarde, voltou a falar para o Serviço Meteorológico: 'Vai ser um Inverno muito frio?' 'Sim,' responderam do outro lado: 'O Inverno vai ser mesmo muito frio'.

Mais uma vez o Chefe voltou para o seu povo e mandou que apanhassem toda a lenha que pudessem sem desperdiçar sequer as pequenas cavacas. Duas semanas mais tarde voltou a falar para o Serviço Meteorológico Nacional: 'Vocês têm a certeza que este Inverno vai ser mesmo muito frio?' 'Absolutamente' respondeu o homem 'Vai ser um dos Invernos mais frios de sempre.'

'Como podem ter tanto a certeza?' perguntou o Chefe. O meteorologista respondeu 'Os Indios estão a aprovisionar lenha que parecem uns doidos.'

É assim que funciona o mercado de acções.

Jay Kopelman: Yes, I'd considered writing a book previously and have started--but not finished--a novel. Not surprisingly, it's a military murder mystery. And I'm still hoping to get it published. I've also been offered a deal by my publisher to write another book. So I guess I'm now officially an author.

More than 65,000 people signed the online form urging the US Army to let the puppy go to the United States.

An animal rescue group picked up the dog, which was adopted by Army Specialist Gwen Beberg of Minneapolis in a case that highlighted military rules barring troops from caring for pets while in Iraq.

The US military has now said the dog is free to leave but American troops would not be responsible for its transportation.

It was the third try by Operation Baghdad Pups to get Ratchet out of the country on behalf of Beberg.

108 padres católicos australianos condenados por pedofilia

O número de menores australianos vítimas de pedofilia ascende a 1.000, revela a organização 'Broken Rites'. No site dessa instituição não governamental, que recebe queixas de abuso sexual, constam os nomes de 108 religiosos pedófilos.

A Polícia australiana deteve ontem um sacerdote católico e um civil, por um total de 35 delitos de abuso sexual de menores. Os crimes foram cometidos ao longo dos últimos 38 anos.

O padre, de 63 anos, da paróquia de Newcastle, é suspeito de 22 crimes, por ter molestado dois irmãos quando estes tinham 12 anos. Quanto ao homem, de 56 anos, é responsabilizado por 13 crimes de abuso sexual contra um dos mesmos irmãos e outros dois jovens, que então tinham 13 e 14 anos.

Turning on Asp.Net on IIS.7 is very easy:

Let me cut to the chase. The biggest robbery in the history of this country is taking place as you read this. Though no guns are being used, 300 million hostages are being taken. Make no mistake about it: After stealing a half trillion dollars to line the pockets of their war-profiteering backers for the past five years, after lining the pockets of their fellow oilmen to the tune of over a hundred billion dollars in just the last two years, Bush and his cronies -- who must soon vacate the White House -- are looting the U.S. Treasury of every dollar they can grab. They are swiping as much of the silverware as they can on their way out the door.

No matter what they say, no matter how many scare words they use, they are up to their old tricks of creating fear and confusion in order to make and keep themselves and the upper one percent filthy rich. Just read the first four paragraphs of the lead story in last Monday's New York Times and you can see what the real deal is:

"Even as policy makers worked on details of a $700 billion bailout of the financial industry, Wall Street began looking for ways to profit from it.
"Financial firms were lobbying to have all manner of troubled investments covered, not just those related to mortgages.
"At the same time, investment firms were jockeying to oversee all the assets that Treasury plans to take off the books of financial institutions, a role that could earn them hundreds of millions of dollars a year in fees.
"Nobody wants to be left out of Treasury's proposal to buy up bad assets of financial institutions."

Unbelievable. Wall Street and its backers created this mess and now they are going to clean up like bandits. Even Rudy Giuliani is lobbying for his firm to be hired (and paid) to "consult" in the bailout.

Ingredients:

370 g de alimento canino em lata
1 xícara de farinha
1 1/2 colher de fermento
1/2 kg de fígado de boi
2 ovos, separadas as claras e gemas
340 g de queijo cremoso suave
biscoitos caninos para decorar

Instructions:

Pré-aqueça o forno a 350 graus e unte com manteiga uma fôrma de bolo redonda, média.
Ferva o fígado em um pouco de água, até estar cozido. Deixe esfriar e liqüidifique até que ele se torne uma pasta macia.
Misture com a comida de cachorro enlatada,a farinha, ovos mexendo muito bem.
Bata as claras em neve com o fermento e junte a massa, bem suavemente, para que as claras fiquem aparentes.
Asse por 35 a 45 minutos ou até que furando a massa com um palito, este saia seco.
Espere esfriar e cubra com o queijo cremoso. Decore com biscoitos caninos e sirva.
Recomenda-se a utilização de variedades de queijo cremoso com baixo teor de gordura. A maioria dos cachorros não tem problemas com esta receita, mas podem ter alguma desordem gastro-intestinal.

No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend.
In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick's enormous input was frequently forgotten.
He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound.

I have never played with anyone quite like him. The blend of his and my voices and our musical telepathy reached their first major flowering in 1971 on 'Echoes'. In my view all the greatest PF moments are the ones where he is in full flow. After all, without 'Us and Them' and 'The Great Gig In The Sky', both of which he wrote, what would 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' have been? Without his quiet touch the Album 'Wish You Were Here' would not quite have worked.

In our middle years, for many reasons he lost his way for a while, but in the early Nineties, with 'The Division Bell', his vitality, spark and humour returned to him and then the audience reaction to his appearances on my tour in 2006 was hugely uplifting and it's a mark of his modesty that those standing ovations came as a huge surprise to him, (though not to the rest of us).
Like Rick, I don't find it easy to express my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously.

Autoridades do Illinois detiveram um padre católico por tráfico de droga.

O padre Christopher Layden foi acusado de posse de substâncias proíbidas com intenção de traficar.

Layden era pastor na paróquia de St. John's Catholic Newman Center na Universidade de Illinois.

A policia refereque que a detenção foi possivel após 2 semanas de investigações. Foram confiscadas 3 gramas de cocaina.

Um dia destes ainda abrem uma igreja no Bairro Alto...

Vinho na Igreja - A Catedral de Birmingham, no norte da Inglaterra, anunciou recentemente que planeja levar a tradição de servir vinho na igreja um passo adiante.

Além de molhar a óstia no vinho, durante a comunhão, o diretor de eventos da paróquia anglicana agora quer abrir um bar de vinhos no local.

Segundo autoridades eclesiásticas, o plano faz parte de um projeto maior para levar mais fiéis para a igreja e seria também uma forma de arrecadar fundos para a paróquia.
